I wonder if there are more dramas like 1000 stars and Moonlight Chicken? I'm not that interested in rapey or slapstick second-hand embarrassment comedy, and sadly so many Thai dramas are either-or. Any tips?

Yeah, Aof has quite a lot of dramas under his belt!

From the ones I've watched, here are some that might fit your description:

-I Told Sunset About You
-Every You, Every Me
-He's Coming to Me
-Not Me
-Cherry Magic, maybe
-The Sign I enjoyed this one a lot but the ending was not my favorite
-Last Twilight though I personally wouldn’t recommend it due to how it handles disability (especially in the last two episodes, but that’s a spoiler).
-Gelboys I ended up liking this one a lot, but it’s aimed at a younger audience (I mentioned it in some of my weekly updates here and here).
