Since July starts on a Monday this year (and I accidentally wrote 34 questions instead of 31), let's start the question-a-day thing early to catch the weekend crowd. Otherwise it will get buried in reading lists and they'll never see it.
The first 11 questions will be in this thread, then 10 or so each in other threads. This is just to keep it from becoming too long and to put it back into reading lists periodically.
There's no expectation everyone will log in every day to answer each question. Catch up whenever you're able and don't forget to have a read of previous days' to see what others have answered with. I hope it encourages conversation, reflection and exploration.

Have moved from jing จริง (true) because it is so useful with particles to sabai สบายๆ and am currently absorbing arai อะไร (~what) phrases with extra delight because I finally worked out that's it the core of a phrase/question often heard in dialogue a-lai-wa?! (what?!). I'd been trying to figure that one out with ล (lo ling) not ร (ro ruea) 🤦‍♀️ Sabai is a cooler word/concept though, things are alright, relaxed, going with the flow. Sabai sabai.

My current knowledge of Thai is mostly terms of address, which is something I love knowing about all Asian languages, since they usually get lost in translation.

When I first started watching Thai series, I was fascinated by how many sentences seemed to end with 'ka' or 'kap' sounds and yet they weren't translated in the subtitles. I was delighted to find out it's how you end a a sentence/question to make it polite and respectful.

khab was my first Thai word too - In A Boss and a Babe, Gun kept saying "Cher, Cher khab" when he wanted Cher's attention so it really stuck out. Learning how to recognise the different registers adds so much that subtitles can't convey.

'Forms of address' can be really difficult in subtitles when you don't know the language, particularly when they translate them incorrectly, but I did find this one particularly fascinating as you can't really translate it at all.

It's particularly fascinating to a native English speaker in that we don't have formal and informal language forms in the same way as many other languages do, like the use of Tu and Vous in French, it's just conveyed by vocabulary choice (words you wouldn't use in front of your mother *g*) and/or form of address.

In Kdramas one character will often be offended and call another one out on using informal language with them inappropriately.

Same for me! At first I thought it might be some super common verb, like to be or to have, but instead it dials up the politeness. Once I figured that out, it instantly made sense.

It was so odd as well, to hear it at the end of every sentence. I suspect other languages do it as well but this was my first time running across it.

They set it up as quirky humour and then turned it into something meaningful with a single word and kept it going, sometimes overtly through dialogue but also through things she was quietly doing in the background.

Yiwa and Marine in Wedding Plan

Wedding Plan is a BL + GL drama. Yiwa and Marine are an established GL couple. Sailom and Yiwa are going to have a lavender marriage (mlm-wlw solidarity!) for society, and in particular their families, to leave them alone.

Tongrak/Masahamut in Love Sea, played by Peat and Fort, who used to play Sky and Prapai in Love in the Air. (I'm also curious to see Boss and Noeul again, as they have minor roles in Love Sea, before their own new series The Boy Next World.)

My girl Miw in 3 Will Be Free is straight. Of course, she has 2 queer boyfriends, and polyamory (including straight polyamory) can be considered queer, but she is the closest I can think of. <3

My storyline answers are split, and closer to 50-50 than should be possible with 3 questions 🤔, but the one I keep coming back to is Aunt Kitty fangaying a favourite retired actress in Matalada. Pompam got the physical comedy exactly right.

I rate Jenny as an actress. How is the series? Jojo's work is hit or miss for me and I'm not keen on a lot of violence.

There's violence (some deaths), but it's not gory. I think it's an interesting watch for having both polyamory and trans rep, which are rarer than m/m and now f/f rep.

Yes, it's a mafia story. For other readers, I'll specify that it's not as violent as KP seems to be.

* Sun (Aelm Thavornsiri) and Yaimai (Jennis Oprasert), The Broken Us, Sun is an autistic man who's taken Marie Kondo a bit too seriously in one regard and Yaimai is living a very different sort of life. They're both stand-out on their own, but together they're even better.
* Li (Pock Piyathida) and Jia (Deuan Prima), Khun Chaai. Li is utterly formidable and Jia's skill with herbs is magic. Together they pretty much make the entire lakorn happen. MDL lists Jia as support. There's strong class bias in how they allocated the categories.
* Li Ming (Fourth Nattawat), Moonlight Chicken He's a main role. There are too many facets to his character and he's involved in too many story lines to call him support. And the small details of Fourth's acting are excellent.

- Masahamut (played by Fort) in Love Sea. He's such a ray of sunshine, and of course the Fort/Peat chemistry is only a plus.
- Tai 2 (played by Max) in Two Worlds. Max did such a great job playing two different versions of the same character (Tai 1 doesn't appear much, he's a supporting character).
- Nabdao (played by Near) in Lucky My Love. She's so adorable! <3 I can't wait to see her and B Mine again in Unlock Your Love.

Fa (Prim Chanikarn Tangkabodee) in Enigma, Sam (Freen Sarocha Chankimha) in GAP, and I'm really liking Fahlada (Lingling Sirilak Kwong) in The Secret of Us!

* Na (Neo), Tonhon Chonlatee. The character shows up like he's going to be the sutt everyone hates except it turns out he's awkward, goofy, has a heart of gold and quickly becomes the viewers' favourite who must be protected at all costs. Except he isn't, and through his own choice and consent so we love him even more.
* Night, Last Twilight. This might be the best IMO of Mark Pakin's roles and that's saying something given how much he was in in 2023 alone. He could also be here for Leng because the character is so integral to Moonlight Chicken's compact story-telling.
* Jennie Panhan in an outrageous comic turn as a very spectacular angel, The Shipper.
* Uncle Hitori (Shinichiro Uchida), Stay. The owner of the farm/homestay the FL volunteers at for a month - always full of laughter, kindness, and occasionally alcohol.

- Mook (played by my girl Aya) in Love Sea. I adore her. I'm less keen on her love interest this time, hopefully she will calm down and stop teasing Mook so much.
- Tai 1 (played by Max) in Two Worlds. I've spoken about Tai 2 in the question above. Also, the scar on Max's face makes him extra hot. ^^
- Mae (played by Jennie) in 3 Will Be Free. Honestly, she can almost count as a main character, as she has a solid revenge storyline.

Phinfang 2 [Khram 2's mother] in Two Worlds. She's blind (after being attacked), but she knew Khram 1 wasn't Khram 2, but was still Khram somehow. She had a lot of moving scenes with him. <3
